So yesterday saw the first Origins festival take place with Sammy Miller Museum & Highcliffe Castle. The format was a classic vehicle rally for cars & motorcycles taking in both venues and combining them by way of a midday cruise. A forested route taking just under an hour to complete.
The Cars were elegant and sleek ranging from 1904 Maudslay mechanics through to Mini's & GT Capri's. Numbers may have been modest but we were high in spirit.
As for the bikes, they sprawled out across the laws in front of the regal architecture of the Castle at Highcliffe. Sunbeam's, Ariel's & BSA gems were among the treasures gracing the fitting backdrop.
The ride was praised by those who stuck around to take part, Commenting on the twists and turns among scenic passes throughout the New Forest. We may have disrupted the tranquillity a tad with the wurlings & burbling of our trusty steeds but the passing onlookers were glad of the spectacle.
Prizes were given to some of the stand out machines both 4 wheels & 2. Drinks and refreshments were consumed thanks to friendly catering at both locations.
A successful day with lessons learned & ambitions for next year.
